John Anthony Miller
Bishop Tony Miller passed away suddenly in Oklahoma City on January 19, 2021, but the impact of his mandate will continue in affecting destiny for eternity.
John Anthony Miller was born to John L. and Marjorie A. Miller on June 10, 1957, in Warrenton, Virginia, and served God’s purpose for his generation unreservedly.
Preceded in death by his father, John L. Miller, Bishop Tony is survived by his mother, Marjorie Miller, beloved wife Kathy, daughters Amanda Conner, Lindsey Jones, and Holly Roberts; sons-in-law Jason Conner, Josh Jones, and Jordan Roberts; and grandchildren Brooklyn, Caden, and Talia Conner, Honor and Saylor Jones, and Sarah Kate and Samuel Roberts, along with hundreds of spiritual sons and daughters around the world.
Tony Miller lived as a man with a mandate. With a deep revelation of God’s divine destiny for every individual, he dedicated his life to seeing that potential fulfilled in everyone he met. Known globally as a master communicator, his words held an assignment whether delivered from large platforms, around board rooms, or across the table. He possessed a unique ability to cross cultural boundaries and connect hearts to God’s Spirit.
His contributions are magnanimous. In 1990 he planted New Harvest Church in Clewiston, Florida, which continues to grow and thrive today. In 1998 he pioneered Destiny World Outreach and has ministered in over 90 nations preaching the gospel, training over 300,000 leaders, financing water well projects, resourcing orphanages, and supporting microfinance ventures to empower local people. Known as a pastor to pastors, he led Destiny Network which serves hundreds of churches across the nation. In 2006 Bishop Tony relocated his family and ministry from Greenville, South Carolina, to Oklahoma City and became the pastor of The Gate Church and founded Kingsgate College.
Pastor, spiritual father, bishop, and friend are all words that described Tony. Yet, it is the simple titles of husband, father, and son that exemplify his greatest contribution. With the thousands of messages, meetings, and miles—anyone who knows him would agree his most significant achievement was his family. Leading, loving, and laughing with Kathy, his beloved wife of 45 years, and seeing his kids and grandkids fulfill their destiny was his greatest joy.
Tony finished his race strong and fulfilled his mandate scripture of Acts 13:36, “Now when David had served God’s purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep…” Bishop Miller fulfilled his purpose, ran his course with joy, and has handed the baton to us to run our race and fulfill our destiny in the Kingdom.
